Turmeric Detox Salted Buttermilk and lassi
Turmeric is a special spice and commonly used in curries or in Indian kitchen on daily basis and it could easily be taken for granted. It has a long history and world-wide it is known as a healing spice. I have always been fascinated with the glorious yellow colour of turmeric and the healing properties it offers and thus ended up creating one newer recipe namely as Turmeric Detox Salted Buttermilk and lassi. My last recipe of turmeric was Turmeric Beetroot Salad and it has been a hit.
Now we are in the transition of the changing season, autumn and approaching winters, this is time when lot of people fall sick due to cold, change of season , allergies and many other health reasons. This turmeric detox buttermilk is a yogurt based drink, we eat yogurt almost every day and by incorporating turmeric with yogurt does bring wonders to the body internally. Yogurt is good for the skin and has protein, calcium in it. Turmeric has healing properties and by mixing them together wouldn’t hurt the body, it will only bring benefits out of it.
Sometimes I like to make this detox turmeric buttermilk and have had it several times. This detox turmeric buttermilk recipe can be used once a month to clean up the system and it really helps in flushing out and cleaning up the body. I like to make this turmeric detox buttermilk because I like the taste of it and also it brings the health benefits too. Made Detox smoothie too, here is the recipe – Detox Spinach Smoothie
If you are new to turmeric spice and would like to give a try then use less quantity of turmeric in your buttermilk, turmeric tends to feel hot in the stomach if taken way too much, it doesn’t harm but many people can feel uncomfortable with the feeling of heat in the stomach and especially when you are totally new to this spice. I would recommend 1 teaspoon to the new turmeric fans as compare to the recipe offers and once you are comfortable using turmeric, you can use the quantity of turmeric from the recipe. It’s a great way to incorporate turmeric in the diet.
- 1 Cup milk
- 2 Cups yogurt
- 2 Tablespoons rose water
- 1 Cup water
- 2 Tablespoons Fennel Seeds
- Salt as per taste
- Black pepper as per taste
- 8 Fresh leaves mint
- 5 Fresh leaves basil
- 1 1/2 Tablespoons roasted cumin seeds powder
- 1/4 Tablespoon Turmeric
Make powder of fennel seeds and roasted cumin seeds separately and use it when blending all the indgredients. check tips below how to make roasted cumin powder.
Blend all the ingredients in a blender for couple of minutes. When all the ingredients mixes together then its ready and serve it.
To make the roasted cumin powder - take some cumin seeds on a pan, on the stove , roast it for few seconds , the fragrance will be very nice. Churn this in a blender to make powder and later use it in the recipe. I usually have this ready, as I use it a lot in my recipes. If made extra powder , keep it in an air tight container and use it later in salad or whatever you feel like.
