When we think of using spinach in the recipe, it always sounds so healthy and this time I wanted to use in my smoothie.
Have been away for a while on an unwinding vacation with the family. After coming back had a strong desire to make spinach smoothie as a detox. My kids liked it too, skylander boy was a bit apprehensive because of the green colour. Usually I make strawberry smoothie for him all the time , kinda regular drink in our house. After tasting it he said not bad momma..
Spinach is packed with iron and being a vegetarian it’s definitely a go go drink..cheers!
Popeye the sailor
During my childhood days, I used to watch a very popular cartoon called “ Popeye the sailor “. He loves to eat spinach and always ate it in a style, just open the can and straight in the mouth. Always thought he was so cool and how could he eat it raw??

Now if you ask me I like my raw spinach too in my salads and smoothies.
Looking at the benefits of Spinach
- High in iron
- Low in fat
- Low in cholesterol
- and has Vitamin A, C, E and more
- Covers most of the minerals which human body requires .ie- Potassium , Magnesium ,Calcium , Zinc etc.
I must have made this smoothie already couple of times. It has become a quick fix after I have been at work and need something to drink.It takes 5 minutes over all.

Had used bananas in the recipe – Like to keep my bananas ready for the smoothies. So easy, just peel them, cut them and freeze them. Why waste a gorgeous healthy fruit?? By freezing it , one can avoid adding icecubes and the extra liquid in the smoothies..doesn’t it make sense? This is the practise that I follow with the bananas for the smoothies.
Sometimes I like to make homemade almond milk and use in my recipes, Recipe to make homemade almond milk . This time had used organic almond milk, market bought to make this recipe.
- 125 Gm baby spinach washed
- 1 Frozen/ fresh banana - peeled and chunks
- 400 Ml Almond Milk
- 2 Tablespoons honey
- 1/2 Tablespoon chia seeds
- 2-3 Frozen/ fresh strawberries - Optional
Blend all the ingredients together and serve it.
Frozen bananas are best with spinach smoothie to avoid watery consistency
Chai seeds require little bit of extra churning, it will make thick consistency
If want to add strawberry - 1-2 strawberries could be added after the smoothie is ready as chai seeds requires more churning.
If want to add coconut shaves, garnish it on the top of smoothie glass before serving.
