Spicy Plum Sauce
Plums are in the season. Autumn is the perfect season to create recipes with plums and have also been creative in my kitchen with plums.
Ultimate season to make the plum sauce which goes well with any dessert or cheese buffet. Last night have hosted a dinner party and created my own new recipe as a spicy plum sauce. Complimented so well with the cheese buffet. My guests loved the plum sauce.
Plums belong to the family of peaches , nectarine. Juiciness and the acidity of this fruit adds great flavour in savoury and sweet dishes. Served this plum sauce with some dessert as well last night , it was well received by my guests.
Sauce is very easy & simple to prepare. Very few ingredients yet full of taste and flavour .
Could be hit on the menu list if preparing for the party.
Plum sauce will be perfect for any occasion and celebration. Christmas is approaching, may be used in christmas recipes??
- 500 gm Fresh plums - diced
- 1 inch Chopped ginger
- 100 ml Water
- 1 tablespoon Fennel seeds - roasted
- 1 cup Brown Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon Cardamom powder
Start the process with roasting the fennel seeds on a pan, it takes 2-4 minutes, keep stirring , changes the colour quickly , remove from the stove once it’s roasted , change in the smell and colour.
Pour water on the stove , bring it to a boil , put all the ingredients one by one. Cover it with a lid , put it on low medium for 15 minutes . Let it get cool, store accordingly or use it instantly.
Reduce the quantity of water if not using as a sauce, for example - for cakes - 50 ml is okay to use.
