mother’s day special

Today is a mother’s day

This post is very special for splashofflavours as it’s the first post ever for the mother’s day (2016). It is wonderful to see that on this particular day the focus shifts to the mother, the queen of the house. She gets pampered, flowers and gifts given by the kids. Husband makes breakfast and just let the mommy relax. Well this is what exactly happened with me today. I call it the power of women; it is an incredible journey that all the mothers are on.

Creation of recipe :-

This is a perfect recipe to make these gorgeous, yummy chocolate fruit and nut goodies. Have used few ingredients and the combination of the ingredients is just so perfect that one could never go wrong with it. I had bought this mold/ tray in a heart shape a month ago but haven’t had an opportunity to use it and since then I have been thinking about the ingredients. I knew exactly how the taste should be like and ended up creating this easy recipe. Once the mixture is ready, it could be shaped into any form / shapes. I decided to make the goodies in heart shape as my skylander boy loves hearts. I had planned to make these cute goodies with my skylander boy, however it’s very sunny here in Copenhagen and we have had a very busy fun schedule for the kids. Thus decided to make it by myself and surprise him with it as he was already in bed by that time.

This morning when I was in the middle of my photoshoot, my skylander boy said mom I wanna hug you when you are done. You have made it for us, for me. It is very special. As a mommy – these beautiful words can never be erased from my ears. And later in the middle of the day he said “thank you” and I was like why.. He said I don’t know I just feel like saying..sometimes there are things which can’t be expressed, it can only be felt. This beautiful gesture by my skylander boy definitely made my mother’s day very special. There must have been something for you as well. I would like to hear it..please share my Dear readers.. 🙂 When these goodies were shared, got loads of kisses and hugs from my 3 gorgeous boys and it meant the world for me.

It’s fairly quick to make and since it turned out so good and mouthwatering. I will be making them again on another occasion which is just around the corner for the friends of my skylander boy.

Mother's Day : Homemade Fruits and nuts dark chocolate

Ingredients
  • 150 gm dark chocolate
  • 50 gm - roasted and chopped almonds
  • 50 gm - raisins
  • 1 Tablespoon - golden syrup
  • 1 Teaspoon - vanilla essence
Instructions
  1. Start with roasting the almonds, chop them and keep them aside.
  2. Now melt the chocolate, put a big deep bowl of water on the stove, boil it and put another bowl on top of it covering the mouth of the hot bowl. Be careful. Add chopped chocolate and stir it, melt it.
  3. Close the stove when the chocolate is melted, take the chocolate bowl out. Add golden syrup, mix it, and now add raisins, almonds, vanilla essence. Mix it and the mixture is ready to give it a shape.
  4. Consistency will be thick, no worries. Start putting in your favorite mold or make it into circles.
  5. Freeze them overnight and you have the delicious chocolate with dry fruits ready in the morning.
Recipe Notes
Be quick in forming the shape, if chocolate mixture gets cold during the process, put it on the hot water ( same pan which was used to melt the chocolate)

Don't use dark chocolate over 50 or 60 percent
