Cauliflower is called as ” Gobi ” in India.  Restaurants in India serve this dish as Gobi Manchurian.

This is entirely customized cuisine served to the need of the foodie’s of India, in other words it’s a thoroughly twisted cuisine as per the taste of foodie’s of India. Manchurian is a pretty well-known dish and very well-liked by the foodie’s. I am one of those who love to eat this dish. Remembering the time spent with friends during college days, going out for lunch and ordering Manchurian with fried rice. Trust me it’s a good twist…

This could be a hit dish on the menu for any get together or parties, it needs to be served immediately. Personally I don’t like to use Ajinomoto { Monosodium glutamate } which is unhealthy and I tend to avoid using it in my food/recipes. It’s very easy to make, yummy to eat; it only takes time if one decides to make it for a big group of people/party.Here is the recipe for Fried Rice









Cauliflower Manchurian ; Gobi Manchurian with Fried Rice

  • 1 Big cauliflower - washed and separated florets
  • For the batter :- Oil for frying
  • 6 tablespoons - Cornflour
  • 1/2 teaspoon - Salt
  • 2 tablespoons - Ginger garlic paste
  • 100 ml - Water
  • For the sauce :-1 tablespoon oil
  • 2 tablespoons cornflour
  • 4-5 Spring onions
  • 2 Sliced garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon Vinegar
  • 2-3 Green chilies
  • Few drops of good quality soya sauce
  • 250 - 300 ml water - use 250 ml for the cornflour mixture add more later if required
  • Salt as per the taste
  1. Wash the cauliflower and separate the florets
  2. Heat the oil for frying
  3. Add cornflour , salt , ginger garlic paste, start adding cauliflower florets in the prepared batter.
  4. With the help of a fork, start putting them in the oil and fry them until it becomes crispy golden.Repeat the process for the remaining cauliflower.
  5. Once fried, put them on a paper towel.
  6. To make sauce :- Make cornflour mixture by adding water in a bowl and keep it aside.
  7. Add oil, garlic,spring onions ,green chilies and now add cornflour mixture.
  8. Bring to a boil , add 250 ml water , cover and simmer it for 10-15 minutes, stir it once in a while. {Add remaining 50 ml water if required}. I didn't as I like the sauce thick.
  9. The sauce will start getting thick, add soy sauce , vinegar, stir it and add salt as per the taste.
  10. Stir it for couple of more minutes, taste and add more soy sauce or salt only if it required.
  11. If added more soy sauce then stir it for 2 minutes more.
  12. Serve it hot.
